Our Bathroom Renovation

I just came across our photos from when we first bought our current home. We have come such a long way! I took some "after" shots today of our bathroom.

Here's what it looked like in 2/09 when we bought it...
Yes, it had lovely carpet and all...

And here's what it looks like now...

(I LOVED ripping out that carpet)

We kept the vanity to save on costs, but updated hardware. I did however request that my hubby change the plumbing a bit to accommodate a double sink vanity top. This worked out great and we were so glad we did this. There was certainly space for it and the only down side was we lost the function of the top 2 drawers.

I got my first lesson on grouting tile...

$5 Chair Redo

I bought this chair at our local flea market after eyeing it up for several weeks. When it didn't sell, I finally took the plunge. Lucky for me, it was only a $5.00 plunge. :)

The material was stained and pretty stinky.

On the back, someone had re-stapled the material.

I tore off the material the same day I got it home and started working. Unfortunately, I didn't take photos of the entire process. After I took off all the old upholstery, I painted the frame with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Old White and distressed it with a sander. For the new upholstery, I used a drop cloth. I cut pieces using the old stuff for a pattern. The most difficult part was sewing the cushion cover because my sewing machine doesn't deal well with thick material.

And the finished chair...

1st post to get me started

So, I'm officially starting to blog. I hope you will follow my adventures and projects as they unfold. That's all for now. :)
